We don’t usually venture very far north of the Miami-Dade County line, but the P81 team hit West Palm Beach on Friday for Sunfest, along with about 100,000 other people. Although the purpose of our trip was more business than pleasure, we did get a chance to see Passion Pit perform on one of the three stages. The Palm Beach New Times put up a thorough review of the show that’s pretty in line with our experience.
Half of our team was stoked for the show while the other half went in unfamiliar with the band and expected, as the New Time writer put it, “bleepy bloopy” music. But the Boston boys rocked pretty solidly and had the fresh-faced, day-glo wearing young ladies swooning from the get go. We have to admit we left as fans as well, although after our subsequent deep-dive of their stuff, the albums fall a bit flat compared to their energy live.
