Inspired by the highly successful social experiment from Ridley Scott’s YouTube collaborative film, “Life in a Day”; The Standard Hotel & Spa assigned film maker, Markus Marty to shadow their eclectic and unique staff members to capture a day in their life.
Recently, Marcello Ibañez was chosen for this video series and brought the camera to the Product/81 gallery as they filmed: A day in the life of Marcello.

It is time. If the local, national, and international press hadn’t reminded you, you only needed to look up in the sky to see the constant traffic of private jets flying into the city. Basel.
With the myriad of events taking place all week, it seems that the smaller local galleries might have to wrestle some of the attention away from the big-name out-of-towners. Product 81 is humbly throwing its hat into the ring with some pretty cool offerings throughout the week. Here are some of the things we have going on.

If you’ve spent any time by the pool at The Standard (perhaps you’re impossibly good-looking) you might have noticed the playful chalkboard drawings greeting you at the entrance. The simple flashes of color and creativity are a daily treat welcomed by regulars of the hotel, who have come to know and appreciate the artist behind them. However, as they say, that is only his day job. Marcello Ibanez has been a photographer since he was a child. Focusing on small, unusual items like antique or collectible toys, he finds beauty in things people often overlook. He’ll have the first major exhibition of his work as part of the Fordistas Series at the Yo ♥ 305 gallery during the Wynwood Art Walk this Saturday from 6-11pm. We asked Marcello a few questions about his work, and what inspires him.
