Nobody in Miami seems to completely be out of the holiday fog just yet. It’s a “lights are on but nobody’s home” sort of thing. In the P81 household, it’s usually a matter of momentum and perspective to get us going. Fortunately for us, we’ve got some fresh new digs over in the Wynwood West compound shared by Butter Gallery, Spinello Gallery and Wynwood Radio among others.
It’s like the feeling of buying a new wardrobe to start the year – tenfold. Our iconic 305 door on NW 2 Ave will still be there to serve as the backdrop for countless Instagrammers, so no worries on that front. But before we truly hit the ground running, like many people we’re taking this drowsy first week of the year to collect our thoughts and set our sights long term. And sometimes the best way to plan ahead is to look back.
That being said, a lot of people ask us where the 81 in Product/81 comes from. Eighty-one is the final chapter in the Tao Te Ching and reads as follows. We hope it provides you with your own momentum and perspective.
Truthful words are not beautiful.
Beautiful words are not truthful.
Good men do not argue.
Those who argue are not good.
Those who know are not learned.
The learned do not know.
The sage never tries to store things up.
The more he does for others, the more he has.
The more he gives to others, the greater his abundance.
The Tao of heaven is pointed but does no harm.
The Tao of the sage is work without effort.
