Add fashion to the already stylish fever that’s enveloping Wynwood. Not just any fashion, mind you, but fashion of the highest caliber, produced by only the brightest of minds.We’re talkin’ ‘bout what’s goin’ down at Keni Valenti Gallery, the splendidly-appointed space located smack dab on The Strip (aka NW 2nd Ave), just steps up from Wynwood Walls.
Anyone in the know about these kinds of keen things (and that includes Vogue, W and New York Magazine) will be well aware that Valenti’s the undisputed “King” of Retro Couture, and that last month he launched a series of throwback exhibits which literally rock with gilded history. They’ll also know that show, which showcased the exquisite work of Yves St. Laurent, also featured the actual Smoking Suits worn by James Franco in a (relatively) recent shoot by Terry Richardson.
But Franco isn’t the first bold-faced name to don a piece or two from Valenti’s 10,000+ collection, and Yves won’t be the last to be paid homage in Valenti’s namesake Gallery. In fact, this very Second Saturday the high fashion maven will be unveiling a tribute to the notorious Mr. Blackwell, who apparently spun off a line or three before becoming the harbinger of the Best and Worst Dressed Lists. We shan’t give away the, er, look (or looks), but we will say that those lucky enough to get a peek at things will come away way better for the effort.
